Red Bluff Doubles its Payouts to the ‘Wildest Ride'

On a Sunday afternoon the third weekend in April, you can find drag queens, Britney Spears, and even Hillary Clinton launching out of the bucking chutes in Red Bluff. These are grown men dressed as women. This is the Red Bluff WILD RIDE.

It’s an event not quite politically correct in any way, shape or form. Cowboys are judged on their outlandish “get-ups” and of course, how the horses buck. This year there’s more than $7,500 in payouts.

“Showman” Cotton Rosser introduced the WILD RIDE in 2000 when 12 cowboys dressed it up and let it rip on the back of a young colt for the wildest of rides. We could not have imagined the spectacle it would turn into.

Red Bluff's Sunday performance has become one of the most action-packed in ProRodeo. It more than satisfies the community’s appetite as fans sit, chomping at the bits to see which hilarious costume will burst out of the gate: baby powder, confetti, silly string, and all.

Think you’re crazy enough to take on the challenge? Don’t worry, we make you look the part and we’ve DOUBLED the payout.

When we first started it, the cowboys would go to the Goodwill store and pick up some lingerie and women's clothing. The costumes are much more sophisticated now and with the times. We make sure to make a display out of whatever’s made headlines in the news.

We also wouldn’t make you look like a fool without paying accordingly.

This year’s top performer will take home $3,000 and a hand-tooled Cactus Saddle, valued at over $4,000.

Second Place: $2,250

Third Place: $1,500

Fourth Place: $750

Don’t miss out! Red Bluff is the only PRCA that offers this bizarre phenomenon. We take calls year long with cowboys requesting a certain costume. Claim yours by calling the Red Bluff Round-Up Office today (530) 527-1000.
