An eight
year dream was realized when the Red Bluff Round-Up Museum was completed.
Through the hard work of many volunteers, building contractors, and interested
North Valley firms, the 4000 square foot building was completed.
The building
houses the Round-Up ticket office, the President's office, the Director's
meeting room, as well as the Museum proper. The Red Bluff Bull & Gelding
Sale has also rented office space. Work continues on the landscaping.
Plans are being considered for the construction of a large patio area
at the rear of the building.
The Museum
proper has displays of Round-Up stock, signs, hats and a 15-foot picture
of the 1922 Red Bluff Round-Up Grand Entry. The photo collection dates
back to 1918 and continues to the present. A recent find of one thousand
pictures taken at the Round-Up from 1941 to 1966 has given museum volunteers,
working on displays, incentive to raise money to purchase the treasure
chest of photos. The Museum already has hundreds of pictures cataloged
by year and is working on a process for, not only displaying them, but
for saving these photos for future generations.
Another facet
of the Museum is going to be the processing of amateur motion pictures
as well as commercial films and videos made at the Round-Up. The goal
is to have interacting displays for visitors to sit down and enjoy as
well as to experience guided tours that tell the story of the Red Bluff
Round-Up.
